So what happened in Violet City?

This kid proved to me why I am a crotchety old man who thinks 10 year olds shouldn’t have cell phones.  I HAVE THINGS TO DO, JOEY.  STOP CALLING.

I caught a Bellsprout, named her Whipkind (but I’ll call her Whippy, for short), and raised her to level 10.  I also caught another Bellsprout and traded it for an Onix named Rocky, whose name I will never be allowed to change.  So I’m going to call him Peter Rockovich for long.  I raised him to Level 11, but now he won’t pay attention to my orders.  So distant… they always do become rebellious around that age.

Also I… did whatever it is you do in the Sprout Tower and ended up getting HM01!  So after a successful romp through the tower and getting my team up to at least level 11, I knew exactly what to do!

C’mon Falkner, I wanna battle!

Holy Baloney, I was right!

Excellent! So I beat the first Gym and got myself a nice shiny Zephyrbadge!  Ahh, accomplishment feels good.  But what’s this? Professor Elm calls me to have me talk to his assistant in Violet City?  What will happen next?
